In 2012, Perth Zoo undertook a major upgrade to their front entrance, with an impressive shading structure by Chindarsi Architects.
Joe Chindarsi engaged me to illustrate a series of animal scenes that were laser-cut out of triangular steel panels inside the canopy.
There are four panels themed by areas of the zoo: Australia, Africa, Asia and Birds.
The style of the illustration is bold and simple so that children waiting in line under the canopy can look up and easily identify each animal they will get the chance to see when they go inside.

We worked with Michelle on developing some high-level laser-cut weathering steel screens for the new Entry Upgrade for Perth Zoo.
It was a project completed on a tight time-frame and we found Michelle to be fantastic to work with, and she went out of her way to meet the deadlines for us.
The results speak for themselves and we couldn’t recommend her more highly.
